Scholastic Bowl Changes

The NTC conference announced 2 major changes in the upcoming 2012-2013 scholastic bowl season.  Unfortunately Cowden-Herrick will not be participating in scholastic bowl in the 2012-2013 school year so the number of teams will go to 10.  This will require a change in the schedule.  We will post it on the website as soon as all the changes have been made and we have done our best to make sure the new schedule works for the 10 teams.  In other news the conference has voted to change the scoring system used in the conference to match the new system used by IHSA in sectional, regional and state play.  Under the new system each toss-up will be worth 15 points and each bonus will be a 3 part bonus with each part being worth 10 points each.  We will still maintain the types of questions, and timing rules (12 minute halves, 10 second toss ups and 30 second bonus rounds) which does differ from the IHSA format a bit.  We felt taking the half time out of the game takes away some of the excitement and strategy of using the clock. Yes - schoalstic bowl CAN be exciting.  Come watch a few games and find out!
